  • INTRODUCING TOMINTOUL TLATH

We are proud to announce the release of Tomintoul “Tlàth”.

Pronounced “Tlah” in the named derives from Gaelic word meaning –gentle/mellow reflecting the true meaning of our whisky which is known as “the gentle dram”.

Tomintoul Tlàth is the result of a very careful selection of individual casks. The hand-chosen collection consists of whiskies of various ages matured in first-class American oak bourbon barrels.

The new addition serves as an entry point to the core range representing great value for money. The proof is in the taste and quality of the whisky in the bottle.

Marketing Director, Duncan Baldwin said: “After experimenting with different cask types and flavour styles we have produced a very exciting whisky. The result is this superb release of Tomintoul, “Tlàth.”

    Tasting Notes:

    Colour: Golden Straw

Nose: Quintessentially Speyside. Light, with some sweet toffee and vanilla and hints of mint leaf and citrus peel.

Palate:  Light and creamy. Lively white pepper and some oak-driven spiciness dance on the tongue with background layers of nutmeg and toasted vanilla.

Finish: Spicy with notes of shortbread and fresh mint

Tlàth is bottled at 40% vol and packaged in cases of 6 x 70cl clear glass bespoke bottles with individual cylindrical canisters.

The new edition will be available in key European, Duty Free and selected world markets.

  • Dowans Hotel Whisky Dinner With Master Distiller Robert Fleming.

On Friday August 5th The Dowans Hotel held an intimate dinner with our Master Distiller, Robert Fleming. The evening featured the tasting of four Tomintoul expressions (pictured) served alongside a four course meal. The evening also involved a talk held by Robert about the Distillery and how Tomintoul whisky is made.

Read below what The Dowan's Hotel had to say on their event's Facebook page about Robert:

'Robert Fleming has been in the position of Master Distiller at Tomintoul Distillery for over 20 years. As passionate as he is about the area (he was born and bred on the Glenlivet Estate), he is equally, if not more passionate about whisky; you could almost say that it was 'in the family' with four previous generations of his family working as distillers in the area.
A passionate yet humble man, he truly is a recognised master of his industry...even if he might not say that himself!

We are honoured to have him join us for a four course meal, each course specifically paired with one of the fantastic range of expressions that he has been at the helm of creating at Tomintoul. He has promised that there will be something a little extra to finish the evening but he holds onto his secrets like he holds onto his Tomintoul 21 year old so you'll just have to join us to find out what that may be!'

A big thank you to The Dowan's Hotel for having us and to the guests who attended this special event. To find out more about our latest events please sign up on our 'Contact Us' page.

  • MEET THE NEWEST MEMBER OF TEAM TOMINTOUL - GRAEME

Meet the newest member of Team Tomintoul – Graeme!

Graeme is our new Production Manager who will be taking over from Tom when he retires in November.

Fun fact – Graeme was born on the same day the first cask at Tomintoul was filled!

With over 30 years’ experience, he’ll be responsible for the smooth running of the production at the Distillery alongside Master Distiller Robert Fleming and Production Supervisor Andrew Sim.

    Graeme

‘I was eager to get back to the production side of the industry and when the opportunity arose to apply for the Production Managers position at Tomintoul I jumped at the chance. I look forward to helping the team produce superb whiskies for a long time to come. I think that I was meant to be at Tomintoul Distillery as we both have the same birthday. I was born on the 23rd July 1965 and the first cask of spirit filled at Tomintoul was also the 23rd July 1965. Scary!!!’

When I am not working, Astrid (wife) and I love having our 4 month old grand-daughter Kara Grace over to stay at the weekend.’

Welcome Graeme! We look forward to making great whisky moments!
